Invisible appliances
Treatment with an invisible appliance is currently in high demand. A series of clear removable films, custom-made for the patient, are used to straighten the teeth. Only small projections (attachments) in the colour of the teeth are glued to the teeth, on which the clear foils are fitted, which are very little visible. The invisible appliance must be worn 22 hours a day. It is removed while eating and brushing your teeth. A new foil is put on every two weeks. Control of treatment is carried out by DENTAL MONITORING, a physical check of the patient in the outpatient clinic is required approximately once every 3 months.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF AN INVISIBLE APPLIANCE?
- More comfortable dental hygiene / invisible appliance can be removed from the patient's mouth.
- Before treatment, the patient sees a simulation of tooth movement and the entire course of treatment.
- Unpleasant tooth impressions are replaced by tooth scans.
- Checks in the outpatient clinic are less frequent and considerably shorter compared to a fixed appliance.
- Your teeth will be slowly shifted over time according to the simulated treatment plan.
- The invisible appliance is not limited by age.
How does it work with us?
1. Consultation (30min)
After a dental examination, the patient learns whether an invisible appliance is the right type of appliance for him or her. We will discuss the patient's expectations of jaw orthopaedic treatment and its realistic options.
2. Initial examination (60min)
We take X-rays, photos and scans of the patient's teeth, based on which the doctor analyzes the patient's defect and develops a treatment plan.
3. Evaluation (30min)
We will explain the analysis of x-rays, photos and scans and treatment options with the patient.
4. Treatment plan simulation
The doctor will develop a virtual treatment plan and a video simulation of the treatment, where you will see the progress and outcome of the treatment. The simulation will be emailed to you for approval.
5. Handing over of the first gowns
At this stage of treatment, you will receive the first two splints, without attachments. You will also receive instructions on how to insert and remove the splints and how to care for the invisible machine. You will also receive a Dental Monitoring Scanbox with instructions on how to scan. You can practice scanning at home until your next office visit.
6. Attachment bonding (60min)
After 3-4 weeks of wearing the invisible braces, attachments - tiny protrusions in the colour of your teeth - will be bonded to your teeth. At the same time at this stage we activate Dental Monitoring.
7. Check-ups (15min)
At this stage, we check whether the treatment is going according to the treatment plan, if necessary, we re-scan the teeth if corrections and repairs are necessary.
8. Termination of treatment (45min)
We remove the attachments from the teeth. We take photographs, scans, x-rays and commission the fabrication of retention splints.
9. Handover of retention beds
The retention/maintenance phase of treatment lasts 1 year, where the patient wears a retention splint during the night. After this period, the retention splint is worn overnight once a week. Follow-ups in the retention/maintenance phase are every 3 months after removal for 1 year.
