Removable appliance for children

The removable appliance is mostly used in children with milk and mixed dentition. It is a resin plate combined usually with a screw. It is often used for the pretreatment of more complex defects or as an appliance for the treatment of specific dental defects. The disadvantages of braces are that they only allow movement of the crowns of the teeth and that their effectiveness depends on the patient’s cooperation. These braces must be worn for 14 hours a day /12 hours at night and 2 hours during the day.

How does it work with us?

1. Consultation (15min)

After a dental examination, the patient learns whether a removable appliance is the right type of appliance for him or her. We will discuss the patient's expectations of jaw orthopaedic treatment and its realistic possibilities.

2. Initial examination (30min)

We will take X-rays, photos and scans/imprints of the patient's teeth, based on which the doctor will analyze the patient's defect and develop a treatment plan.

3. Evaluation (30min)

We will explain the analysis of x-rays, photos and scans and treatment options with the patient.

4. Handing over the removable appliance (15min)

At this stage, we will try on and remove the machine and give you instructions on how to wear the appliance, how to clean it and how to activate the screws.

5. Check-ups (10-15min)

Follow-ups at intervals of 1-2 months follow, where we monitor the progress of treatment, adjust the appliance and check the eruption of the permanent teeth.
